Our research role

Consumer related research activities form an important input to advocacy and lobbying activities.

To participate credibly in consumer-related policy making circles, as well as to inspire confidence in the consumers and retailers relying upon the information and educational materials it produces, the National Consumer Agency will invest heavily in a strong, well managed and adequately resourced research function.

Research will be a core function of the National Consumer Agency and will support and guide all other functions. Research outputs will be used to:

  • identify themes for future awareness raising campaigns
  • support advocacy & lobbying programmes
  • identify gaps in consumer's awareness
  • inform the agency on issues of concern to consumers
  • identify weakness in current consumer policy
  • feed into enforcement activities
