Consumer Strategy Group report
May 2005
The Consumer Strategy Group (CSG) was established by the then Tánaiste Mary Harney in March 2004. Its mandate was to advise and make recommendations on new national consumer policy.
The CSG commissioned the most extensive research on consumer affairs in Ireland. Eight separate research projects were commissioned, all of which can be accessed elsewhere in the Research Zone of this site. There was also an international benchmarking exercise to ensure that Ireland learns from best practice abroad.
The 148-page report, Make Consumers Count, covers consumer issues, current responses and policy. It charts the way forward and includes a series of recommendations to government.
The report is available in HTML or PDF formats. For the HTML, version, visit the CSG website [link to CSG report website]
